FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I have to be gay to work with GGT?
A: Not at all! Although we do focus on GLBTQ experiences, we love to work with any clients no matter what their orientation may be. We don’t judge anyone; giving great service is not just a GLBTQ benefit!
Q: Is everyone at GGT gay?
A: No, we do not discriminate in our staff. Although not everyone is gay, all employees are committed to fostering a safe and comfortable environment for all clients to be who they are.
Q: What can I book online?
A: Airlines, hotels, cruises, cars and package deals are available to book on your own through our online booking engine. Some boutique resorts, charter based cruises and smaller tour companies are not set up for major booking engines and therefore require us to personally contact them. Also, should you have questions about specific properties or locales, a GGT travel concierge is available to speak with you at no additional fee.
Q: What time can I call you?
A: We are open 24 hours, but most of the business is most easily executed during standard business hours.
Q: Can I come in to meet with you?
A: We love personal meetings and welcome face to face contact with our clients. However, we are not a store front, but if you are in the NYC area we would happily come to you. Most of our communication with clients is by phone or email.
Q: If you are in NYC how can you serve me since I don’t live there?
A: As most communications are web and phone based, where we are does not prevent us from serving clients well. Since we are open 24hours, time zones are not relevant either. We are here to be of service to you in whatever capacity will make your travel experience better.
Q: Do you have special deals or promotions?
A: Yes we do, and we get new ones all the time! It’s always best for us to know what you are looking for and as our travel concierge builds your custom itinerary, they will provide you with options on deals and promotions that would enhance your trip.
Q: How much does it cost to use Get Gay Travel?
A: There is no fee to call us and use our service. We get paid by the travel provider.
Q: I don’t see any ads on the website, why?
A: GGT does not believe it is appropriate for us to take money from advertisements as we only promote the companies that serve the GLBTQ community properly. We see it as a conflict of interest. None of the recommended tours, hotels, airlines pay us any more than any other travel agent would earn. Our recommendations are designed to give the clients the most positive experience possible.
Q: What is ‘TAG Approved?’
A: The Travel Alternatives Group (TAG), is owned by Community Marketing and has been a resource in the GLBTQ travel industry for years. They have a qualification program that any property wishing to be TAG approved must complete whereby they verify the gay friendliness of a given property.
Q: What is ‘GGT Approved?’
A: GGT Approved is a bit less formal. These are properties that GGT representatives and/or clients have either visited or stayed in and is purely an experience based approval. This gives us the flexibility to discern without bias how they will treat members of the GLBTQ community. No properties pay to be GGT approved.
Q: What does it mean to be a ‘featured’ property?
A: GGT selects properties that not only fit the criteria of GLBTQ friendly, but also exhibit a desire to work with GGT clients specifically. This may potentially include upgrades, extra amenities, special rates etc.
