Atlantis, RSVP and Olivia Raise Money for Haiti Relief

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Atlantis Events, RSVP and Olivia are joining together to raise money for the disaster relief in Haiti. Tomorrow morning, January 19th, the Atlantis Events cruise on the Liberty of the Seas will arrive at Labadee on the north side of Haiti. Although the area has not suffered major damage, the port will bring a much different experience than usual stops on a LGBT cruise. Atlantis auctioned off the presidential suite to guests already booked on the cruise before it left, raising at least $10,000 for the effort.

Rich Campbell, chief of Atlantis Events, said “our guests have been watching with horror and concern…now is the time for us to lend our gay dollars to a compelling human tragedy that knows no gender or sexual orientation.” Judy Dlugacz, president and founder of the lesbian-oriented Olivia Companies said many LGBT Americans have visited Haiti on gay cruise ships. “It is important that as LGBT Americans, we come together to show our community’s solidarity and support for those living through this unimaginable disaster.”

The three cruise operators have pledged matching contributions of $22,500 for the relief fund. As members of the GLBT community this is a time we can dip into our vacation funds and double the contributions. The total contributions to this fund have hit about $100,000 by now and are expected to grow. To make a donation, please visit this link on Red Cross’s site:
